2. What the App Does

New Year Countdown 2027 Live is an Android entertainment app that shows a live countdown to New Year 2027, with neon themes, midnight celebrations, fireworks animations, notifications, and a countdown image sharing feature. The app is free with an optional £0.99/year Pro subscription to remove ads.

3. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the app's features:

3.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

• Your selected theme preference
• Whether you have an active Pro subscription (cached from Google Play)
• App launch count (for in-app review timing)
• Install time (for notification scheduling)
• Consent status for personalised ads

This data is stored in your device's private app storage and is never transmitted to our servers.

3.2 Data Collected by Third-Party Services

The following third-party SDKs integrated into the app may collect data as described in their own privacy policies:

• AdMob Google AdMob — serves advertisements. May collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalisation (subject to your consent).
• Firebase Firebase Analytics — collects anonymised usage analytics to help us improve the app.
• Crashlytics Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports to help us fix bugs.
• Billing Google Play Billing — processes subscription payments. We do not store any payment information.
• UMP Google UMP (User Messaging Platform) — manages your ad consent preferences.

4. Advertising & Consent

The free version of the app displays adverts served by Google AdMob. On first launch, you will be shown a consent dialog to choose between personalised and non-personalised ads. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.

Pro subscribers (£0.99/year) receive a completely ad-free experience — no ads are loaded or shown.

5. Permissions We Request

• INTERNET — Required for loading ads, Firebase analytics, and NTP time sync.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — To check connectivity before loading ads.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS — To send the midnight New Year notification (Android 13+). You can deny this and still use all other features.
• VIBRATE — For the midnight celebration vibration effect.
• WAKE_LOCK — To keep the screen on during the splash screen.
• RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — To reschedule the midnight notification after a device reboot.
• AD_ID — Google Advertising ID used by AdMob for ad serving.

6. Notifications

If you grant notification permission, the app schedules a single alarm to fire at midnight on January 1st, 2027. This is scheduled locally on your device using Android's AlarmManager — no server communication is involved. The alarm is automatically rescheduled after a device reboot.

7. Sharing Features

The app can generate a countdown image and share it via Android's standard share sheet. The image is created locally on your device and temporarily saved to your device's cache folder. We do not upload or access this image ourselves.

8. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used the app and provided personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

9. GDPR Legal Basis (EU/UK Users)

For users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, we process data under the following legal bases:

• Legitimate interests — anonymised analytics and crash reporting to improve the app.
• Consent — personalised advertising (you can withdraw at any time).
• Contract performance — processing your subscription through Google Play.

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• The right to delete your data (uninstalling the app removes all local data)

All data stored locally uses Android's private app storage, which is not accessible by other apps. We use HTTPS for all network communication. We do not store sensitive personal data on our own servers.
